Nowadays range of options for bathtub design is considerable. Every person chooses the best one corresponding to his or her needs. So if you are lucky parents, have a dog, or just like simplicity and practical things you may decide on the alcove tub. Even if it doesn’t look very extravagant or opulent, you still can add some elements into the general design which will create a perfect fusion of chic and performance.
We dedicate much time to work, family, kids and other everyday things. Don’t we deserve some time for relaxation and self-pampering at the end of the day? Of course, we do. It’s only up to you which bathtub design you choose: a charming clawfoot tub with brass feet, a flat-bottom tub in the center of the room, a garden tub to enjoy the view of your impeccable flower beds or a tub with air and water jets which will help to relax your muscles and ease the tension.
Tubs can also be made of fiberglass (reinforced plastic), ideally covered with a material known as ‘gelcoat’. Due to its flexibility, this material can be shaped easily, which is exactly why it is the favorite choice for making whirlpool and airy tubs. The gelcoat, on the other hand, enriches its appearance; and it creates a smooth, shiny surface that is easy to clean and maintain. As flexible as it is, this material is prone to scratches and cracks.
Drop-in tubs are not really tubs. The term refers to tub shells, adjusted inside a solid enclosure matching the rest of the bathrooms decor (colors, tiles, or cabinets). Have in mind that you’ll have to purchase both items separately (the tub and the enclosure), which can cost much more than buying a regular bathtub.
Why hesitate choosing shower or a tub? You can have all in one! The spectrum of hues is quite considerable so you can get exactly what suits you perfectly. Built-in models are one of the most popular. Freestanding tub looks incredibly opulent! It requires more space than traditional ones, but it’s definitely worth it! It will make any bathroom look really lavish.
Composite tub materials are in fact the American Standard’s Americas products and Bootzcast (Bootz industries). These composite materials are specially engineered to form the backing of a tub, whose surface is afterwards enameled to look glossy and smooth. The reason why these materials are being produced is to provide the same durability and heat retention as iron, without making the tub too heavy. Most of the time, composite tubes weight 1/3 of their cast iron counterparts, which is something you should remember if moving some time soon.
